Since 16 September 2021 Singapore has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) issues apostilles for Singapore documents. An apostille replaces the old chain of embassy stamps for every country that is also a party to the Convention — currently more than 130 of them.
Singapore government documents can often be apostilled directly, while private documents such as declarations, powers of attorney or copies of certificates must first be notarised by a Singapore Notary Public. We tell you which route applies, prepare any translation, coordinate the notary and the SAL apostille, and return the finished document to you by courier or collection.

Frequently asked questions
Which countries accept a Singapore apostille?
All countries where the Hague Apostille Convention is in force with Singapore, including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the UK, the EU countries and the US. For countries that are not parties, such as the UAE or Malaysia, embassy legalisation is needed instead.
Does every document need a notary before the apostille?
No. Many documents issued by Singapore public authorities can be apostilled directly by the Singapore Academy of Law. Private documents and copies generally need notarisation first. We confirm the correct route for each document before we start.
Can you apostille a document from another country in Singapore?
No. An apostille can only be issued by the country that issued the document. We can, however, arrange apostilles in many other countries through our international network — see our document retrieval service.
